Meet Karen Cioffi and Robyn Feltman

I'm delighted to host Karen Cioffi and her daughter and writing partner, Robyn Feltman this week. Karen is an amazing lady who started the Virtual Book Tours group. We'll learn more about her sometimes trying experience later this week. Now here's Karen to tell you a little about herself.

Karen Cioffi and Robyn Feltman are advocates of education, reading and the environment. Two of their favorite sayings are:

Nothing ventured, nothing gained”

You must be the change you want to see in the world”

Karen Cioffi is a former accountant turned author and freelance writer. She has a number of articles in ezinearticles.com. Karen spends part of her day managing Virtual Book Tours, following up on emails, and writing. She also watches her 2 ½ year-old grandson two-three days a week. She is co-moderator of another yahoo group, Intense Writing which covers children’s stories from picture books to young adult. She is currently revising a chapter book, Walking Through Walls and working on a non-fiction article for children. In addition to this she and Robyn are working on another picture book and a science fiction middle grade short story. Karen plays a little piano and guitar and does art work for friends and family. She lives with her husband, Donald Ventrice, in New York City.

Robyn Feltman holds a master’s degree in Children’s Literature and is a fourth grade elementary public school teacher. She is an initiator of environmental and humanitarian projects in her school; one of the projects is the Oambassador Program. Robyn lives in New York City and will be finishing her Administration/Supervision degree in December 2008.

  1. Thanks for the interesting entry about Karen and Robyn. Wow, they live in NY City, right in the middle of all the big book activities.

I don't know that I could live in that huge a city, but ... I don't know if I could even visit. I don't get around in major traffic problem areas well. However, the opportunities must be amazing.

  7. Hey All,

Thanks for taking the time to visit. Vivian, I would some day love to move out of NYC - I would be great to be in a more peaceful and safe environment. Doubt it will ever happen, but I can dream, can't I (I love the Andrew Sisters).

And, thank you, Nancy, for hosting me this tour!

    Karen

  9. I love the two quotes that Karen and Robyn admire. “Nothing ventured, nothing gained.” How true. We, as authors, are venturing out, putting ourselves out there and hoping that others will respond to our creative writings.
“You must be the change you want to see in the world.” This one hits home. We must become all that we can be to help others in some way and be the change we want to see in the world. Those of us working for children have the advantage of reaching them at an early age.
Let's continue to encourage each other even though at times we may get weary.

  11. Nancy, if you can remove that anonymous posting, do so because that's the same message I got on my blog when I started having problems. Crystalee said she was getting a lot of anonymous postings of late on the postings of when she hosted me a while back. I haven't been able to get my blog to open except from my dashboard to post a new posting. I can't comment back to folks who leave comments, et cetera. All I can say is change your settings to no longer take anonymous comments. Hope this doesn't lock you up or freeze your blog - E :)
